This is a good article on ads showing green but not appearing live, also known as "Ghosting".
I also like how they called it Power Posting Pointers, perhaps after my product. :)

where's the article? i clicked on it and came up with the same thing as on the blog. NOTHING !! i'm deleting you from my favorites.
The Gimp is a free program and you can use to make image ads.

Also there's a free tutorial at:

and if that's too much than you can create images in PowerPoint and save them as a jpeg file.

Correction : URL redirects DO work but not URL shorteners. More on URL redirects in my update.
