I have an update coming soon. I feel I owe it to everyone. I do not know why. I feel that my last version of PowerPosting could be improved upon.
To be quite honest, I didn't use the PowerPosting tactics for some time, but recently I've decided to use them again.
I've done some research on IP changing and I even bought a modem that allows me to disconnect and reset my IP. Its a cellular "aircard" which enables me to change IP frequently.
I took the day off of work, and played with it.
This morning I wasn't able to get any of my posts to stick.
It scared me. I posted with the aircard and changed by IP.
I used an autoposter and seperate emails (NO CL accounts).
I think what I lacked was:
A.) The filenames of my images were all the same, I didn't COMPLETELY rename them with each upload.
B.) The autoposter may have gone too fast.
C.) I didn't add enough white content.
I recommend adding a LOT of white content. I am talking like 2-3 paragraphs. Just go to wikipedia and grab the content.
I know this to be true because I later on tonight posted with complete success in 5 cities in a row.
I started out with a clean slate by making sure to vary EVERYTHING. That is how I test -- I start out being very broad with my experiments (making sure all variables are open) and then slowly cut corners to see what is making the ads not show.
I had success tonight by NOT changing the IP but actually using the PowerPosting technique that I've written about. So -- my book may NOT be out of date as I feared.
I successfully posted 5 ads with a craigslist account and cleared my cookies each time. I also made sure to ad tons of white content.
Tmw I will try to expand this. Perhaps all this IP-changing stuff is just a scare..

Mark,
I've been working on an auto-poster that creates some insanely random image names, email addresses, etc. I've also done a lot of research on creating random text and have been experimenting with "hidden" colors.
I definitely don't want to publish the findings for any self appointed "craigslist cops" to find, so is it possible you send me an email to discuss? I think it could help the PowerPosting method a lot. Gracias!
Mark,
I've got a basic, semi-automatic GMail account creator written that I wouldn't mind sharing with other PowerPosters.
I've used it in the last few days to generate over 30 unique GMail accounts using US census data lists of first names and surnames, along with random number/text generation.
Each address is stored in an Access database for use in creating craigslist accounts.
If you'd like to check it out, just shoot me an email. Thanks!
Ok... I give up... can I hire someone to help me post my ads. They are not even selling anything and i still get flagged.
email me: my.dog.bella1234@gmail.com
New here, and wanted to say hello.
Mark,
I stumbled across your post from March 12, where you talked about having problems having the ads go live, then got them onto five cities. I've been having the same problems. In fact, I've been Ghosted so much, I had to verify my IP was not the problem by typing in some random text, etc.
I use 100% image ads, and change the file name each upload. I usually name it something very basic, such as "i." Even with a clean slate (including a new email, new file, new image hosting sites, etc)...the majority are still Ghosted.
What I've done, that did seem to help a bit, I thought I'd pass along.
I made a short cut to the lipsum text file, then use wikipedia for my random words. I change the them often.
I also translate the words into either Spanish or French - even though I'm sure that has no real effect, but it makes it easier for my titles.
I clear my cookies prior to posting, then block all cookies just before the campaign. I use {VARIABLE1} {VARIABLE1}
as the title. Though the title makes no sense as it's not in English, I find it easier than trying to come up with my own titles over and over. My hope is the viewer's curiosity will get them to click the ad anyhow, and then see my Image ad.
Anyhow, maybe this might help somebody. I don't know. Especially after the past three days. I'm about 1 for 10 going live. A few days ago, when I initiated everything I just mentioned, I was amazed how many were getting on. Close to 90%, and I ran with it for an hour or so. I thought I stumbled across the secret.
Today, I'm wondering if Mr. Newark has instituted some type of IP monitoring system, that allows just enough to get on to keep you interested. Sort of like the teaser slot machines, that spits out a crumb every now and then.
Anyhow, great product and well worth the money (I use the basic and manually enter the verification code)

Hey all. I've been testing my ad poster application in stages, and here's what I've gotten so far:
I have a GMail account creator that will pull first/last names from an Access database of US Census data for names. It autogenerates an GMail address. Once you enter the captcha, it'll continue on and set the POP forwarding for you.
With this semi-automatic process, I was able to create 40 GMail accounts in about 2 days. All the account info is held in the access database, and I was able to create CL accounts very quickly with the info.
I also created several variations on my image ads and wrote a script that would copy those images to about 150 unique file names. Once these are uploaded to PhotoBucket or WebShots, I had to spend a little time copying the links to the images.
The next test I worked out is the random text - that's always a b*tch getting enough content, but I have that figured out. I harvested a list of about 150 RSS newsfeeds and put those into a database. I can generate random text by randomly picking a newsfeed and harvesting about 3 or 4 nodes from the descriptions for each article.
Last item: On hidden text, I've found that you can hide the text using the "span" element in HTML and add "broken" or bogus CSS in front of and after your color declaration.
So the bottom line is that I've tried this with several ads, and they've all stuck, none have been flagged!
If anybody wants to help test and develop, please email me.
I'm unclear on posting in several cities and how many ads you can get through on a daily basis. I didn't see mention of it in the CPP ebook.
As long as I rotate everything everytime I cllick post, can I go to another city and post the same ad?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
JLS
Hi Mark,
I purchased your program and think I requested a refund. Please ck. your database. If so, I'd like to repurchase it.
Thx, lori
Jeff Seely,
As far as posting the same ad, CL doesn't allow the exact same ad to be posted. You actually have to randomize your image, your title, basically everything about the ad so that CL sees it as a completely unique ad.
they do some very heavy work with regular expressions to compare the ad similarity, so introducing as much randomness as possible is key.
Usually, you only want to post about 5-10 ads from the same IP address, and definitely change up the accounts each time. This is why a lot of posters use dial up for posting their ads.
Mark,
I'm new here too, hi All.
Using a click thru image per instructions, renaming etc. and if I use sub domain(s) for the A href = will I be easily flagged?
Pat I'd be happy to help beta test your gmail creator. Email me lori.glory@yahoo.com
Thx, loriG
I understand about random-ness. Some people boast about getting ads in "27 cities". Is that really possible...is it possible with this method?
Dial up is probably not an option for me now.
Is there a pattern to follow that's a little more detailed than outlined in the book? One that gives steps for placing 5-10 ads in different locations each day? Need 5-10 gmail accounts?
I think what tagged me earlier is that I grabbed some of my 'white text' from the same content page. Didn't realize that it probably looked similar.
Sorry for the length here. Easily frustrated at this point.
Thanks
J
Hey all
Yes CL is probably as hard as it gets to post. You need to create variation constantly.
If you really want to make sure 10 ads stick, you need to strip your process down and amke sure you're varying EVERYTHING. Including unique CL accounts for each posting, unique hidden white text, unique title, unique hosted image link.
Then roll the process out and cut corners to find out what you can get away with.
Its getting tough..
Ck. this out http://www.torproject.org/
loriG
Hey lorig,
Trend Micro blocked that as dangerous! What is it?
J
Hi Jeff,
I'm not advocating it, just read about it. It's supposed to block IP IDs. Probably needs more investigating.
The Tor Project is an open source browser. It use to be called Torpak and is associated with Firefox.
There's a couple of add-ons to make web-surfing anonymous (Privoxy and Vidalia)- i think they are used with Torproject as well.
I've used it for a long time here and there, but my guess is it will be much too slow to be used as an effective way to post on CL. Also, my understanding is CL bans IP address outside of the US, when posting in the U.S., but I don't know that for sure.
Hi All,
I found this inexpensive little piece of software and bought it, $5.97. It's worth it for all the call to action words.

Hi All,
Apologies for the bad link, here's a working one.
